Engineering Polymers Play Key Role in Drug-Delivery Devices. 150204

As designs of drug-delivery devices become increasingly complex, engineers have an even wider

choice of plastics to choose from. this over helps navigate what can be a bewildering selection of

materials by outlining some key properties, capabilities, advantages, and limitations.

Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd. used a wide variety of DuPont polymers in its drug-delivery

system:  DuPont Delrin resin for the clutch tube and locking sleeve; DuPont Zytel nylon resin for the

drive shaft, inner housing, thumb pad, and piston rod cap; and DuPont Crastin  PBT for the printable

dose dial and rigid clip parts.

An innovative is the reusable insulin pen designed by Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd. Developed

for diabetes treatment, the pen offers a portable, discreet, and easy insulin dosage system for mobile
